After a “Timothée Chalamet” ventriloquist doll for sale on eBay for the bargain price $122,795 set the internet ablaze this week, the creator wants you to know he stands by his work. He think it’s a beautiful boy doll indeed! His masterpiece is described on eBay thusly:
A one of a kind, handcrafted Timothée Chalamet ventriloquist figure, dressed in a recreation of the Louis Vuitton outfit worn to the 2019 Golden Globes, complete with beaded and sequined harness. Head, hands and ankle boots were all hand sculpted and wardrobe was custom made. Figure stands 26 inches tall and also sits independently. Body is made of white pine, upholstered in foam and quilted fabric. Head is controlled from inside body (accessed from back) by a head stick, which is outfitted with a spring loaded head lock, to keep head in place when not in use. Makes a perfect gift for any occasion, from baby shower to bar mitzvah!
For reference, here’s the real-deal Chalamet at the Globes:
While the stuff of the Internet’s nightmares collectively, the doll is the handiwork of Chris Alan. It wasn’t supposed to look exactly like the Call Me By Your Name star either. “It’s not a portrait, per se, it’s more of a caricature. It’s meant to be fun,” he explained to New York magazine.
Still, not all the fans of the actor were pleased with this take. In fact, people were more than a little taken aback by the likeness and were quick to share their shock. Their Timothée, this was not.
My therapist: The Timothée Chalamet ventriloquist figure isn’t real and can’t hurt you

“People online do not like the hair at all, which drives me crazy,” Alan went on to say, peppering in a challenge. “My response to them is: You’re welcome to do better. Go for it! You think you can do better, you’re welcome to try.”
Offering his critics insight into the process, he told New York that he used a polymer clay called Super Sculpey to bake his vision into existence, and that the hair (which, in particular, endured its fair share of criticism) was supposed to be “longer than it was at the actual Golden Globes.” Alan did not however offer an explanation about the doll’s eyebrows, probably because there is none.
Reached for comment, the doll itself said nothing. But perhaps its mournful eyes say it all?

It might be nothing new, but Keanu Reeves has been the focus of a lot of internet love lately. Fans have been kvelling over the actor who is back in the spotlight thanks to his role in John Wick 3 and the upcoming Bill and Ted’s sequel, a memorable cameo in Always Be My Maybe, and an appearance at the E3 video game conference. Devotees have been turning him into memes, swapping stories about the star, reveling in his good deeds, and generally going gaga over him. Reeves, though, apparently had no idea.
On the red carpet for Toy Story 4, a reporter for People asked Reeves what it was like to be “dubbed the internet’s newest boyfriend”. Reeves seemingly had never heard of the term or had any idea of his ardent fandom. “I’ve been what?” he asked, when the reporter clarified, he replied. “I didn’t know that… That’s wacky.”
While Reeves may think it’s all a bit odd, he does appreciate his fans. “The positivity is great. It’s really special how [Always Be My Maybe and John Wick 3] have been embraced,” he told the reporter.
Reeves should not expect his internet fandom to disappear anytime soon, thanks to his upcoming role in Toy Story. The actor is joining the beloved franchise to voice a toy known as Duke Caboom, a motorcycle-riding Canadian stuntman. His addition to the Pixar world means the star will be introduced to a whole new generation of fans who will undoubtedly learn to love him, too.

When it comes to E3, the video game conference where companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, Bethesda, and Ubisoft, unveil their upcoming titles, game makers like to make a splash. In the past, that has meant Steven Spielberg and James Cameron introducing the Avatar game, Robin Williams demoing the game Spore, and Drake to introduce FIFA 14. This year, the biggest buzz wasn’t generated by a celebrity (although Keanu Reeves did make an appearance), but by a celebrity’s dog.
Jon Bernthal, best known of his roles in The Punisher and The Walking Dead is starring in Ubisoft’s upcoming game, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. To introduce the world to his character, Cole D. Walker, which Variety describes as “a man who runs by his own moral code”, Bernthal appeared on stage. “What’s going on, everybody?” Bernthal said. “Hey, I’m Jon. This is Bam Bam the dog.“ The dog quickly settled on the stage and then proceeded to immediately upstage Bernthal by just sitting there sweetly and just generally being a very good boy.
Bam Bam, a blue pit bull who has his own Instagram feed, is one of Bernthal’s three rescue pups who make frequent appearances on Bernthal’s own Instagram feed. Bam Bam joined the family in 2017 (here’s a puppy pic, for no good reason other than adorableness) and has been at Bernthal’s side ever since, even in Esquire cover shoots and on stage at E3.

Based on the fan’s reaction to Bam Bam, hopefully next year every E3 celebrity will bring their dog. Or the celebrities can stay at home and dogs can run the video game press conference on their own.

I remember when Jon Bernthal first adopted that dog two years ago. He's been an outspoken & generous advocate for pitbull adoption and we should be more like Jon. https://t.co/x83wwWk5Yr #AdoptDontShop pic.twitter.com/Xyltu7jykb
